Oak Porcelli, Owner
An extreme sports enthusiast, Oak found his beginnings in the film business shooting snowboarding videos with Burton, K2, TB Films and ESPN’S X-Games in 1995. The potency and imagery of these videos led Mountain Dew and Powerade to provide unprecedented levels of corporate sponsorship for a novice filmmaker. Upon discovering his love of the industry, Oak moved back to New York, where he pursued any and every project he could find. Eager to thoroughly learn the trade, Oak worked on numerous films, from small budget independents to multi-million dollar blockbusters. From producer on award winning short film “Pet Story,” all the way to assistant to John McTiernan on “Basic” he continued to learn and master the entire film making process.
After eight years in New York, Oak moved to Louisiana. In Louisiana, Oak saw an opportunity to rebuild the shattered film industry of New Orleans while implementing the invaluable tax incentives provided by the state. Establishing his reputation and specializing in production oversight, Oak has become a constant source of knowledge, support and experience to novice filmmakers and established veterans alike. He soon found himself recruited as Vice President of production for Louisiana Media Productions, a Louisiana based branch of Los Angeles film production company Upload Films. With Louisiana Media Productions, Oak’s responsibilities consisted of budgeting and scheduling prospective projects for both producers and production companies, while also overseeing their in-house productions. Major projects that benefited with Oak supervising production include the 20th Century Fox picture “Jumper” and Spike Lee’s joint with Touchstone Pictures “Miracle at St. Anna.”
After leaving his position with Louisiana Media Productions, Oak’s passion for a higher standard of filmmaking led to the creation of his own production company, Lightwave Entertainment. With Lightwave, Oak has set out to raise the production viability and quality of scripts and films, while maintaining a cost effective production strategy capitalizing on current markets and tax incentives. Since its inception Lightwave has worked for high end clients such as Victoria’s Secret, supervising their “Pink Campaign” out of LSU, worked on the Louisiana unit for the hit film “Cadillac Records,” and helped produce “Night of the Demons.” Currently Lightwave is in post-production of “The Somnambulist,” its first fully in-house production.
